Brian A. Dempsey

Brian Dempsey is a lifelong student of Scripture with a deep passion for biblical theology and the historical and theological context of God's word. Ironically, his journey into theology began long before his conversion to Christ, spending years immersed in study, reading extensively, and serving in various ministry settings.

As an elder in his church, he taught, preached, and led theological discussions for many years. Over the past decade since his conversion, his understanding of Scripture has deepened, not merely as an academic pursuit but as the foundation for faith and life.

Now, as an educated layperson, he seeks to serve the church by engaging in theological study, participating in men's discipleship, and writing for the glory of God.

Why this book

The Unseen Throne grew out of several years of study, teaching, and sustained engagement with the Divine Council worldview, particularly as it has been articulated and popularized by Michael Heiser. Rather than choosing sides, Brian set out to understand what was actually being argued, and why. What kept nagging at him was the growing realization that a number of unstated presuppositions had to be in place for many of its claims to hold together.

The book is the fruit of digging into those assumptions. Throughout, the aim was to represent Heiser's views accurately and fairly. Where the book disagrees, the disagreement is focused, textual, and methodological, never personal.
